Dine Out For Kids

Communities In Schools of Georgia

Communities In Schools of Georgia (CISGA) is partnering with the Georgia Restaurant Association again to bring Dine Out For Kids® to Georgia on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

Dine Out For Kids (DOFK) gives restaurateurs an opportunity to support at-risk students in their community by donating a portion of the profits from breakfast, lunch and/or dinner to CIS. Restaurants' participation in the program also gives them a role in helping to solve the dropout problem and helps CIS further its mission of helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life.

Individuals can support DOFK by eating at a participating restaurant on Thursday, August 19. Click here or on the Participating Restaurant link for one in your area. Be sure to check back periodically because restaurants will be added as they come on board.

Proceeds from the diners will help CIS local network affiliates provide more after-school, youth leadership, literacy, parent education, and other pertinent programs in their local communities. "I started attending a CIS after-school program to get help with my schoolwork, but I learned more than just how to do better in school. I also learned how to do better in life," said CIS student Eric Cumbee.

Nearly 40% of Georgia's high school freshmen are no longer enrolled by their senior year, and this dropout problems creates a tremendous burden on our economy. Together, taking part in Dine Out For Kids, we can make a difference in at-risk students' lives in Georgia.
